Stress, Aromatheraphy and Face Oils | Rosalena Skincare

For me, my daily skincare routines in the morning (read here) and in the evening (read here) are my Me time. I enjoy every aspect of the process and that has made me more likely to stay consistent and look forward to these times. It’s how I start and end my day that makes a world of difference. It’s also how I’ve come to discover aromatherapy, or the use of natural oils to enhance physical and psychological wellbeing.  Scents and fragrances are incredibly powerful and one of the best ways to bring that element of calm and serenity into your day. They evoke feelings and sensations that have the power to soothe your tired body and relax your racing mind.

The simplest way to incorporate aromatherapy into your day is by the use of face oils. I love using face oils as part of my skincare routine, but as much as that is a true statement now, there was once a time when you couldn’t get within a mile of me with anything remotely baring the word ‘oil’ on it. The thought itself sent shivers down my spine. I had acne-prone skin and thought oil was the enemy. My skincare routine consisted of anything and everything that would dry up my face and provide a matte finish. But I’ve come a long way since those days. I got educated. Oil is no longer the enemy, but the promise of a younger-looking, healthier and more radiant skin. I now fully embrace the physical and psychological benefit of face oils and enjoy using them lots of different ways. Face oils are skincare luxury at its best and I will tell you why.

The Rosalena Experience

Let’s enter the world of Rosalena Face Oils. Rosalena is a skincare brand that comes to us from London with love. The brand, much like myself, believes in Pause, Breathe and Be, or in other words, finding a mindful moment in every day. They use pure plant ingredients with no added preservatives or artificial ingredients, no complicated names we can’t pronounce, no fancy scientific claims we don’t fully understand, just pure plant goodness. Their products are naturally scented and combine the ancient wisdom of plant oils with contemporary botanical actives for maximum skin benefit. The Rosalena range is based around 4 super light face oils that allow you to decide what you need and when, enabling you to choose the beauty oil that is best suited to how your skin feels and what it needs each day: the Rock&Rose Oil to revitalize and brighten, the Frank&Sense Oil to repair and replenish, the Beauty&the Beast Oil to rejuvenate and energize, and the Love&Me Oil to nourish and protect. Consider using more than just one face oil as your skin changes every day: hormones, seasons, environment, stress, diet, lack of sleep. The Rosalena Oils are specifically formulated to absorb directly into the epidermis and provide shine-free hydration with vitamins and botanical boosters to brighten, nourish and protect your skin.

The Rock&Rose Face Oil

A good starting point when selecting a face oil is to opt for the smell you like the most and reap the aroma therapeutic benefits it has to offer. One of my favorites is the Rosalena Rock&Rose face oil. Regular readers know that I simply adore the scent of a rose and anything rose related (I even dabbled in some DYI Rose Beauty Treatments here).  The ingredients in the Rosalena Rock&Rose Oil have been specifically chosen to energize, awaken and detox the skin and each bottle contains a potent blend of the following:

Organic Pumpkin Seed Oil – to lift the skin and add a natural glow

Organic Safflower Oil – to add moisture and rejuvenate

Prickly Pear Oil – to stimulate collagen production and improve skin’s elasticity

Evening Primrose Oil (packed with Gamma Linoleic Acids and Omega 3&6) – to help combat aging of the skin and wrinkling

Natural Vitamin E – to fight free radical damage and promote cell renewal for a fresh and youthful look

Grapeseed Oil (loaded with antioxidants) – to keep skin toned and supple

Rosehip Seed CO2 Extract (a natural active ingredient) – to nourishes the skin for a smoother and firmer appearance

Q10 (biological energy for your skin cells) – to reduce the appearance of wrinkles

Patchouli and Sweet Orange Extract – to clear your head and give you a spring in your step

Rose Otto – to provide an instant beauty boost to tired and lackluster skin

All pure goodness for the skin, all essentials to a wholesome skincare routine, all skincare couture at its finest.

How to Use Oils

There are several ways I like to use my Rosalena Rock&Rose Oil and oils in general. However, no matter which face oil you opt for or which one you might currently have in your skincare stash, it is important to apply it right in order to see results and enjoy the benefits.

Wear Alone – After cleansing and toning, add a few drops in the palms of your hands, warm by rubbing both palms to release the aroma and then gently pat onto the face and neck. If you so desire, you can also use a Jade Roller (read how to here) to massage the oil into the skin for maximum absorption.

Mix With Your Moisturizer – Mix a few drops of oil with your favorite daytime or nighttime moisturizer and gently press into the skin. Cup palms over your face and breathe in the heavenly fragrance.

Over The Moisturizer – If you opt to apply the moisturizer and oil separately, I always recommend patting the oil on top (not under) the moisturizer. Oils will penetrate the emollients in your cream, but not viceversa.

Over Makeup – Add a few drops of the Rosalena Rock&Rose Oil to your hands, rub your palms together to release the aroma and then gently pat onto the skin over makeup to refresh your face, without having to reapply makeup, and relax your mind. Perfect mid-day pick me up.

After Shower Treat – Mix a few drops of your favorite oil with Coconut Oil and apply all over the body after dry brushing and showering. Read more about this method here.

Lip Treatment – Use your favorite oil as a lip treatment after scrubbing. I like to use a lip scrub (read recipe here) about twice a week to exfoliate dead skin cells that cause dry patches and prevent lipsticks from applying smoothly. I then like to moisturize my lips with my Rosalena Rock&Rose Oil or layer over my beloved Maya Chia Wonder Balm (read review here) or my Dior Crème de Rose (read review here).

Enhance Scents – Warm a few drops of your favorite oil in the palms of your hands and gently pat behind the ears, on your neck and décolletage, then layer your perfume on top. This will enhance and accentuate the fragrance and aroma of your perfumes.

Add Oil to Hair Mask – I recently started adding a few drops (about 5 drops) of the Rosalena Rock&Rose Oil to my favorite hair mask, read recipe here. It works wonders on the scalp and revives lifeless hair.

Packaging

The Rosalena Rock&Rose Oil is packaged in a beautiful and elegant jar that comes with a little medicine dropper, leading to a very apothecary feel, which I adore. It is an understated look nonetheless, but one that looks chic on any vanity.

Where to Purchase

The Rosalena oils are available directly from Rosalena via their website. They ship internationally all over the world and accept payments via Credit Card, Debit Card and PayPal. It’s as simple as ordering from any local site. Easy, fast, no fuss – exactly how all online ordering should be.

Hi Cat! I really enjoyed how you listed the different ways to use oils!! I never knew to use over makeup but I want to try it tomorrow. I get a little parched by 330pm sometimes and the sprays don’t really help much! As always, so eloquently written and the photos are justhe absolutely delicious!

Oh Cat, you really have captivated me… I think I will try this now and open myself up to trying oils and be brave about using them! After my bad experiences I was so put off by them but you’re so right about it being therapeutic and so good for the skin, and it’s also so luxurious and a great “me” time. I can tell how honest you are with your words and truly shows your kind your soul is and your character! Going to use your coupon code, excited to try this now 🙂

Mika, thank you so much for stopping by and reading my post. Hope you found it informative. I can totally relate as far as opening up to oils. The word itself doesn’t sound glamorous at all and the thought of putting an oil onto the face can be intimidating, especially for someone who already has an oilier complexion. There are however different types of oils out there and I think that the Rosalena ones would be a perfect starting point for anyone thinking about trying oils. Their oils are very light, the formula is natural, packed with amazing nutrients and they melt beautifully into the skin. If you get a chance to try these oils, I hope you enjoy them as much as I have. ~ Cat L.

A lovely post, I enjoyed reading it. When I was a teenager I had very oily skin and I tried everything to dry it out and I would never have tried an oil. But this was the totally wrong way and today I love putting oil in my moisterizer before I go to sleep. And you gave some great tips on how to use oils in different ways. Love it

Thank you so much, Desiree! I really appreciate your feedback. I think putting an oil into your moisturizer especially at night is a great way to ensure your skin stays hydrated and replenishes while you’re sleeping. There are different types of oils out there, with different grades and consistencies and concentrations, but your skin will always let you know what works and what doesn’t right away! Glad you enjoyed the post! ~ Cat L.

    Hi Cat,

Great post, oils have so many benefits! And just like you, years ago while I had acne I would have never thought of using oils on my face. Now they are pretty much the only kind of serum I use. Rosalena oils seems great and I do trust your opinion a lot. Do you know how long is the discount code going to last for? Just to know.

I’m not sure how long the brand will decide to run the coupon code, but if you’re interested in the oil I would suggest taking advantage of the 20% off promotion. I really think you would love this oil, especially since I know you’re a fan of the Pai one. I’m obviously a big fan of the Rosalena Rock&Rose oil for all the reasons outlined in my post, so if you get a chance to try any of their oils, I hope you enjoy them as much as I have. ~ Cat L.

Cat, your pictures are always stunning, captivating and I linger on every detail that you provide in your work!! I must admit the oil that caught my eye is the Evening Primrose as I’m a huge fan of ALA (alpha linoleic acid), GLA and Omega’s in skincare. I love serums, oils, boosters, concentrates for truly customizing a skincare routine. Great Post!

Oils, when used correctly (meaning select those that agree with your skin type and use when your skin needs them, for instance you might want to skip oils in the summer or use them only at night if your skin type is on the oilier side), are so beneficial to the skin. Hope you get to try these and hope you enjoy them as much as I have! ~ Cat L.
