I’ve always loved learning about beauty and skincare. I find it fascinating. I think at some early point in our lives, we each realize that image talks. We live in a superficial world where we are judged on our appearance whether we like it or not. Appearance can affect our mental state, our perception of ourselves, as well as other people’s perception of us. Social media and reality shows have only added to the predicament. The pursuit for that impeccable image, that flawless canvas has tainted (harsh word I know, but utterly relevant) all of us. For me, my under eye area has always been one of my main trouble spots. There are a few reasons, partly because of genetics and mostly because of lack of sleep, hectic lifestyle despite my best efforts to stay grounded, and of course, stress. When not managed properly, my under-eyes make me feel very self-conscious about my appearance. I feel like they can age me and make me look worn-out. While there’s not much I can do about genetics and the reality is, more often than not I won’t be able to get the recommended 7 hours of sleep, the question then becomes, how do I deal? How can I manage stress differently? This is how I choose to look at stress. I simply have to. A very simple mindset yet such a powerful realization.
How It Works
The Stress Positive Eye Lift intrigued me from the moment I learned about its existence. I immediately realized it had the potential to up my skincare game and help me tackle some problems I’ve dealt with for ages: stress and my under-eyes. I reached out to Dermalogica, asked questions and learned everything I could about this product: how it was developed, the unique formula, the innovative design, and how to use it to the best of its potential. There was no turning back for me. I stress positive now.
Thru my conversations with Dermalogica, I learned that Stress Positive Eye Lift is a leave-on concentrated mask. It goes a step further than an eye serum due to the formula, the applicator and the DIY massage technique. The unique combination of active ingredients coupled with the cooling massage applicator tip give this product the ability to penetrate deeper into the layers of the skin and tackle the side effects of stress on the delicate eye area: under eye bags, puffiness, dark circles and a weakened skin barrier. The formula uses a potent blend of some rare ingredients:
- Wild Indigo Seed to illuminate and help reduce the appearance of dark circles
- Fermented Yeast and Hyaluronic Acid to firm the skin and help generate a lifting effect
- Sea Water Extract and Arctic Algae to combat dryness, de-puff and diminish the look of under-eye bags
- Bioactive Diglucosyl Gallic Acid to help decrease visible signs of eye fatigue for an energized appearance

A cooling massage applicator molded perfectly to the shape and curves of the under-eye area is the ideal delivery system, soothing, refreshing and livening up the skin in an instant. I was quite skeptical of the massage applicator as I have tried similarly designed products in the past, none of which seemed to work well. But Dermalogica got it just right. The applicator glides seamlessly without tugging at the skin and delivers just the right amount of product. It feels so comforting on the skin as well!
How To Use
This is one of those products that can look quite intimidating at first but in fact, it’s very easy to use. Start by properly cleansing and toning the skin (read how to here). Using the applicator, dispense three dots of the Stress Positive Eye Lift below the eye and three dots above the eye right below the brow. Use the applicator to massage the product onto the eye area using a C-motion. Sweep back and forth 3-5 times. Next gently circle the under-eye area from the outer corner to the inner corner making small circles. Then glide the applicator from the inner corner back toward the outer corner 3 times. Repeat the movements for the other eye. The massage technique I just described is recommended by Dermalogica for better absorption and optimal results. Leave the product on the skin for 3-5 minutes (time during which I like to apply a face serum, moisturizer and a lip balm). Massage any excess of the Stress Positive Eye Lift onto the skin using the applicator. Follow with your preferred eye cream.
The Stress Positive Eye Lift can be used daily and re-applied throughout the day as needed for a quick boost. Due to its highly-active nature, this product should not be used on skin that has been recently treated with Retinol (I do use Retinol treatments for my face, but always make sure to avoid the eye area). My preference is to use it in the morning, especially on those days when I didn’t get enough sleep the night before and pair it with my Kiehl’s Creamy Eye Treatment with Avocado mentioned here.

Oh Cat I think you may have just answered my prayers! I’m in need of a new eye cream and this one sounds amazing. I love your in depth reviews, I’m starting to notice shadows and fine lines around my eyes and it’s really making me feel old. Fabulous review with lovely photos as always Cat! I’ve noticed that my lack of quality sleep + stress has caused telltale signs of aging to show up in my eye area so this sounds like the perfect product for me!
