I’m sure we’ve all heard numerous times that hydration is the key to maintaining a supple and youthful-looking complexion (expanding on that topic here and here). I’m also sure we’ve all probably discovered by now that drinking plenty of water is sometimes not enough. So whenever the skin looks a little dull and lifeless, whenever we seem to have lost our glow and makeup fails to save the day, that’s when it’s time for a bit of a skincare recharge. Today I would like to introduce a product that is able to quench the skin’s thirst and provide that much needed boost of hydration. The new Farmacy Honey Drop, launching online and in stores at Sephora today, is the perfect lightweight moisturizer for these hot, humid summer months and especially ideal for those who, like myself, suffer from dehydrated skin.
Farmacy is a brand that has established its reputation by creating a farm-to-table natural skincare range, free of parabens, free of formaldehyde, free of artificial coloring and not tested on animals. Their line is based on farm-grown botanicals infused in irritant-free, bioactive formulations. At the heart of ALL Farmacy products is Echinacea GreenEnvy, a variant of Echinacea Purpurea, known to contain the highest concentration of Cichoric Acid. Cichoric Acid is a potent natural anti-oxidant that helps protect and firm the skin by inhibiting the enzymes that break down collagen. It also works to normalize the skin pigmentation process by promoting a more radiant and even-toned complexion. Farmacy works with local farmers in the upstate New York area to cultivate and harvest this exceptional Echinacea, as well as the other botanicals used in their skincare products, hence why the farm-to-table concept so aptly describes the brand. I have previously reviewed several of their products here and here.
I’m a big fan of Farmacy, not only because their products are simply fabulous, but also because they seem to work great for my sensitive skin. I was so excited when I saw the latest addition to the Honey range, that as soon as I tried out the new Farmacy Honey Drop Moisturizer, I immediately wanted to tell you all about it. But that wouldn’t have been fair, so I tried it out for a few more weeks, even took it with me to Miami for my birthday celebration, just to eliminate any potential doubt and be certain of my love for it. So now I’m ready! Let’s dish…
The Farmacy Honey Drop is a long-lasting, lightweight moisturizer designed to promote a vibrant, glowing complexion while healing, hydrating and nourishing the skin with a carefully chosen, bio-active concoction of botanicals and antioxidants. The formula revolves around the synergy of a powerful trio: Echinacea GreenEnvy honey (a natural humectant), propolis (an anti-inflammatory substance found in beehives), and royal jelly (rich in amino-acids). A potent Triple Hyaluronic Acid Technology boosts the skin’s moisture levels, increasing its firmness and elasticity. Joining forces and meticulously adding to the mix are Cupuacu Butter Beads from the Amazon rainforest (rich in hydrating fatty acids to nourish, soften and help improve the skin’s moisture barrier), fermented soy, mistletoe and Japanese Bloodgrass combined with Tsubaki and Meadowfoam Seed Oils to moisturize, soften and reduce water loss. A complete list of ingredients can be found here. The result is a next-level daily moisturizer that protects, nourishes and leaves the skin feeling soft, supple and plump.
Sensory experience is further enhanced by a lively, sorbet-like texture that is luscious and light, feeling so refreshing and soothing on the face. It melts beautifully and instantly revives the skin. There are no artificial fragrances but I do detect a delicate, botanical scent that infuses the senses with a serene sense of calm.
How To use
The Farmacy Honey Drop Moisturizer is suitable for ALL skin types. It moisturizes and nourishes normal skin, balances oily and acne-prone complexions and calms and intensely hydrates sensitive types. Simply apply to clean skin in the morning and/or in the evening. Using the spatula provided, scoop out a small amount and warm between the palms. Apply to the face in upward and outward sweeping motions. The moisturizer works great on its own during daytime and provides the most beautiful base for makeup application. I simply apply an SPF on top and I’m ready to start my day. However, I find that this moisturizer applied on its own at night is not enough to address all of my skin’s needs. My skin is mature and dry, so I always like to layer an oil on top to seal in hydration. But this is a step I never skip at night, regardless of season or moisturizer used. I have an entire post dedicate to the use of facial oils here.
So now after almost a month of daily use, I am convinced that hydration is the magic potion when my complexion looks dull and lifeless. I am properly impressed by Farmacy and their affordable, no-fuss skincare line. They are a brand I’ve come to rely on for natural, effective products that work with my sensitive skin.
The Farmacy Honey Drop Moisturizer is launching today, so be prepared!
