Since coming back from our ski vacation, which you would have seen on my Instagram ( @DailyCatL ), I’ve been feeling a little out of sorts. Returning to mundane life after an amazing experience that took us more than 11,000 ft up in the snowy peaks of the Colorado Rockies is hard to do. There are bills to pay, errands to run, phone calls to make. Life… you get the gist! The other day I awoke to an overwhelming feeling of closeness in the air but decided to still make the most of my day. I got dressed and reached for my Maison Kurkdjian Aqua Celestia. It was the only option that would do as it’s basically the scent of fresh, Spring air (an instant pick me up) packaged in a chic and elegant bottle. As I walked out into our kitchen, my husband’s eyes lit up ‘You smell so wonderful’. And that was that, a few simple words that changed my day. I quickly made a mental note to try out more scents from Maison Kurkdjian and thought it might be apt to share this fragrance with you!
Fragrance and scents can be so powerful. The fragrance we choose to wear on any given day has the ability to communicate how we feel inside, our lifestyle goals and personal style. Therefore choosing the right scent and wearing it in our unique way is just as much of a statement as the clothes we choose to drape our bodies. Aqua Celestia is the latest release by Maison Francis Kurkdjian Paris, one of the ‘IT’ brands trending at the moment. This is quite possibly my most favorite spring (I foresee summer as well) fragrance and it is every bit as refreshing and uplifting as it sounds!
I’ve been wanting to try something from Maison Kurkdjian ever since I caught a whiff of their sophisticated fragrances while traveling thru Europe last summer. Francis Kurkdjian, revered as one of the world’s most talented perfumers, started his career designing fragrances for YSL, Armani, Versace and Dior. In 2009, he introduced his own perfume house, Maison Francis Kurkdjian Paris and began creating olfactory art thru an assortment of alluring and unique aromas boasting of natural extracts. Aqua Celestia is the Maison’s latest opus and represents Francis Kurkdjian’s goal of adding a new sensory dimension to the already sophisticated wardrobe of scents created by the house. I was first captivated by the almost ethereal name, Aqua Celestia (loosely translated as heavenly water), which immediately allowed my imagination to float free to a place of inner calm and tranquility.
Per the message card included, the fragrance is designed to ‘form a seamless bond between the blue of the sky and the blue of the sea, forging a path toward absolute serenity’ and I have to add, harmony of senses and mind. It starts out unbelievably fresh, with the crisp combination of cool mint and lime adding the perfect zing to the beginning of an olfactory journey. The notes are effortlessly balanced by the inclusion of sweet mimosa blossoms from Provence, delicately weaving thru the fragrance. The entire bouquet of aromas is further enhanced by the emergence of distinctive notes of blackcurrant buds from Burgundy, lending sophistication and elegance to a simple, yet very powerful blend. The fragrance opens up fresh and dynamic, gradually metamorphosing into a soft and sweet aroma that lingers for most of the day.
I find myself loving this fragrance more and more every time I wear it. The scent feels very close to my heart, comforting to my soul and pleasing to my senses. Just the way perfume was meant to be…

You described this beautifully! I’m so tempted by this now… I had tried his very first Aqua and didn’t really take to it, so wasn’t paying this one any attention because the names sound so very similar. But I trust your taste, and looks like I really need to give this a whiff!
