ZOEVA really blew me away with their Summer Compilation edit! It is a beautifully curated capsule collection meant to help you achieve that summer chic look (read: fresh, radiant and dewy skin)! When I started formulating this post earlier in the week, I decided to conveniently separate the collection by type of product featured. I hope you enjoyed my earlier introduction to their Bamboo Makeup Brushes here. I encourage you to read both posts, because all the pieces can be mixed and matched with each other but of course, you may use each piece independently if you so desire.
For me, the ZOEVA Summer Strobe Spectrum Palette is the star of the show! Partly because ZOEVA powders in general are some of my all-time favorite formulas (finely milled, imperceptible on the skin, long lasting power) and partly because this palette in particular is such a multi-tasker! It has 4 highlighting powders that can be used to flatter and contour your features for a fresh, sun-kissed look all year round!
The shades have been carefully selected to universally flatter every skin tone. These powders look beautiful not only on the face but also on the eyes! The formula feels so soft and is so incredibly finely milled that it allows for these powders to be used as eyeshadows as well, further adding to the multi-tasking role of the palette. The pigmentation is superior and there is no fallout. But I will let the swatches speak for themselves. Later in the post, I will feature a full makeup look using this palette on the face and eyes.
The swatches, top to bottom, and corresponding to the shades in the palette are:
- Top right – a beautiful and delicate mother-of-pearl highlight with ultra-fine silver shimmers
- Top left – a warm-toned soft rose gold with a satin shimmer finish
- Bottom left –a warm coppery hazelnut contour shade that can be used as a blush or to contour in the hallow of the cheeks. It’s not completely matte and it’s not quite shimmery. I would describe it as having a very toned-down satin finish
- Bottom right – a cool-toned champagne shade with ultra-fine pink and silver shimmers running thru it
These shades are not glittery at all, but quite sheeny. They can be worn alone or combined and blended together to create a unique holographic shimmer. I typically like to focus on any area that I like to highlight: cheekbones, brow bone, collar bone, the inner corner of the eye, the tip of my nose and cupid’s bow. I find that using the ZOEVA Highlight Brush (mentioned here) dusts just enough product to provide the perfect touch of polish for delicate daytime looks. For evening looks, I like using a contour brush such as the ZOEVA Face Brush No. 110 reviewed here for a more strobed, statement look. These powders provide such a natural, luminous glow to the skin without accentuating pores or clinging to dry patches.
I was very intrigued from the moment I saw the ZOEVA Strobe GEL highlighters. If you love liquid or cream products, then you will adore these unique memory shape gels. The formula has a whipped jelly-like consistency, unlike anything I’ve ever used. The memory shape allows it to bounce back to its original shape, thus the product will never look messy or used up. They are quite instagrammable, not that it matters, but it certainly makes for a pretty sight and an innovative product.
Cream and liquid products in general can be quite challenging and often disrupt previously applied products (especially powder formulas). That is NOT the case with the ZOEVA Strobe Gel Highlighters. They can be applied over your foundation and before you powder or as a final touch after you have finished your makeup and set everything with powder. The gel formula allows these to gently adhere on the skin without looking cakey and without moving around previously-applied products. The formula has a cooling effect and feels so refreshing. You can see the beautiful wet-like effect of the gel texture in the swatches below.
The ZOEVA Summer Edit features two shades:
These gels melt into the skin to create a gorgeous translucent finish that can be built up depending on the intensity desired. You can use these gels to highlight or as an eye-shadow base. The formula can be lightly applied for a daytime radiance or layered on for a more dramatic evening look. You will be very pleased with the results of these gels, especially if your complexion is in need of a pick-me-up! They impart such a delicate, lit-from-within glow!
Here is a full makeup look featuring all of the items discussed today.
The shades in the Summer Strobe Spectrum palette are so beautifully pigmented, all you need is to gently touch your brush on them, and it picks up just enough to lend a soft, luminous glow. If you need more, just layer on. I used the warm coppery hazelnut color (bottom left in the palette) in the hallow of my cheeks, brought it up to my temples and under my jaw line, in sweeping motions to warm up the complexion. I applied the rose gold (top left) on the apples of my cheeks and popped the champagne shade (bottom right) along my cheekbones and on the tip of my nose.
On my eyes, I started out by blending out Corona all over the lid. I buffed the coppery hazelnut shade from the Summer Strobe Spectrum palette (bottom left) into the crease using a fluffy brush. Next, I patted the rose gold (top left in the palette) on the outer half of the lid using a flat eyeshadow brush and popped in Halo to highlight the inner corner.
On the lips, I am wearing the ZOEVA Pure Lacquer Lips in Crushed Bloom, one of my all-time favorite lip shades. I have previously swatched the entire ZOEVA liquid lipstick collection (mattes and lacquers) here.
Wherever you find yourself this Summer, may these ZOEVA releases be useful to you and help you achieve your unique summer chic look! I hope you enjoy some unforgettable moments this season and always!
