Sharing My Skincare Journey and A Budget Buy | Neutrogena Rapid Wrinkle Repair Regenerating Cream

Life may have many twists and turns, but it eventually comes back full circle. And it seems so has my skincare journey. As with people, there are certain names you meet early on in life and develop a connection that will transcend time. You part ways until you meet again.

My Skincare Journey

The first skincare brand I ever used was Neutrogena. As a young adult, acne was the enemy and hope was something very fragile. I remember going to get a facial in hopes to tame my unpredictable skin and the esthetician recommending Neutrogena. A mild cleanser that wouldn’t disrupt the pH of my skin, a nourishing moisturizer and an eye cream was all I needed.  It sounds so simplistic these days when skincare routines promote several lengthy steps, but at the time, that seemed the answer to my prayers.

Today, the desire to understand my skin, what it needs and how I can care for it is still the driving force behind my beauty routine. I’m still focused on finding solutions, although my problems have now changed. Preventing wrinkles, saggy skin and diminishing glow are some of the main culprits. We can’t stop the aging process, but there is such a thing as aging gracefully. Having said that, it is important to know that at the end of the day, when you have removed your makeup and exposed your bare skin, the only thing that really matters is how you feel inside. Over the years, I’ve learned to be less harsh on myself and embrace my age one wrinkle at a time. I am grateful for the person I’ve become and the experiences that have brought me where I am today.

• Hyaluronic Acid – helps hydrate, replenish and rejuvenate the look of the skin.
• Glucose Complex – a Retinol SA booster that accelerates skin’s surface activity thus rapidly diminishing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

My Experience

Neutrogena suggests using their Rapid Wrinkle Repair Cream in the morning and in the evening consistently for 7 days, in order to see the full benefits advertised. I’ve been using the cream for 10 days as suggested. I am currently using it on and off, alternating between various moisturizers I have on rotation at the moment.

The cream has a lush, almost whipped consistency that glides effortlessly over the skin. It absorbs easily and doesn’t leave a greasy residue behind. The formula is fragrance-free, which is always a big plus for my sensitive skin. Within 2 uses of the cream, I began to notice an improvement in the texture and appearance of my skin. My skin appeared more luminous, plump and some larger pores along the T-zone appeared less visible. After using the cream for the recommended 7 days, my skin seemed even better hydrated than before. As a result, some deeper wrinkles I have along the sides of my forehead appeared smoother and less pronounced. But I find that the best validation always comes from friends and family who’ve known me for a long time and are familiar with how I look on a day to day basis. During holiday gatherings these past few days, several of these family members and friends commented that my skin appeared more radiant and smoother than before.

I have never harbored any illusions about my ability to fight aging. You simply can’t stop it.
